ADAKC Cinnamon Roll Drive Raises $30,000

Our annual Cinnamon Roll Drive in support of the Alzheimer’s Disease Association of Kern County was a huge success once again this year with scores of people coming out today for a sweet treat all for a great cause.

The drive kicked off dark and early right outside   studios [at KGET 17] in downtown Bakersfield.

Those who showed up were given a hot pan of Hodel’s cinnamon rolls for a $20 donation.

The funds will benefit people and families living with this devastating disease.

People like Maria Lazzerini, whose mother suffered from Alzheimer’s for more than 10 years.

“Alzheimer’s affects everybody you know, everybody. Not just the patient, it’s everybody, their family, the ones that love them…it’s a very hard journey,” said Lazzerini. “So ADAKC very much helps because caregiving is so difficult because everyday is different.”

More than 15,000 cinnamon rolls were sold through today’s fundraiser and, at last check, ADAKC reaching its goal of $30,000 today.

ADAKC says they will now be able to buy a passenger van to help carry out its mission of providing care to those living with Alzheimer’s disease.

We want to thank Don Hodel and our friends and Hodel’s for their hard work today.

And, we want to thank all of you for giving back in the spirit of the Golden Empire.
